This is a recipe that I believe came from my Aunt Ruth and has been a regular in our home for many Christmases. I didn’t use to care for them much, but that changed when my mother once fixed a batch with melted chocolate added. I quickly became addicted to this candy-bar like variation, and when they ran out I started “settling” for the originals. Now I’m hooked on those, too.
If you are a fan of brown sugary/caramelly flavors, you’ll definitely want to give these treats a try!
- 24 graham cracker squares
- 1 C butter
- 1 C brown sugar
- 1 C chopped pecans
Place the graham cracker squares on the bottom of an ungreased jellyroll pan. In a saucepan, combine butter and brown sugar. Bring to a boil. Stirring constantly, boil for two minutes. Add nuts. Pour evenly over graham crackers. Bake at 350° for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and let stand for ten minutes. Break apart while still warm.
